Our previous client engagements have focused on strategy & front to back project management for structured products, equity derivatives & cash equities trading desks as well as regulatory directives at ABN AMRO, Rabobank, ING, Citigroup, Fidessa, Bank of America Securities, HSBC, Merrill Lynch, Fox-Pitt Kelton, Friedman Billings Ramsey, several tier-2 investment banks in the U.S., U.K., the Netherlands and Belgium. Rebuild Private Investor Products (PIP) & Equity Derivatives Desk

A top-tier global investment bank initiated a program to rebuild its entire financial markets capabilities while separating from another global investment bank after the credit crisis of 2007. This was immediately followed by an integration with a third investment bank. CapitaSelect provided project management focusing on a front to back implementation of the Structured Products & Equity Derivatives business including:

  • Managing 30+ project resources in all functional areas and setting up the Equity Derivatives Competence Center as a managed service.
  • Separated/rebuilt Structured Products solutions followed by the integration of two Equity Derivatives solutions.
  • Created an end-to-end Target Operating Model incorporating stakeholders in Front & Back-Office, Risk, Finance and Product Control.
  • Front-to-back implementation of global Structured Products/Equity Derivatives trade capture, position management and risk system (Sophis Risque).
  • Market-making and hedging tools for global cash equities, options and futures markets (Sungard Front Arena & GL Trade).
  • Web application for STP of vanilla structured products.
  • New Product Issuance work flow tool including all stakeholders.

Outsource and replace all internal Equity IT capabilities

A global investment bank initiated a major cost cutting program resulting in analysis and subsequent implementation of new Equity IT capabilities. CapitaSelect provided alternative solutions to replace all internally supported IT solutions with a leading ASP solution provider:

  • Performed project initiation, project management and program management based on the Prince 2 methodology.
  • Replaced fragmented, in-house order management systems, GL-Trade, Sungard-Front Arena and Omni with a fully hosted ASP, Fidessa, covering all front-, middle- and back-office client and proprietary trade flow.
  • Ensured a single work flow principal with all activity flowing through the Sophis global risk system followed by the Dimension back-office confirmation system and the Peoplesoft general ledger.
  • Alignment of stakeholders throughout the workflow covered multiple projects and users in Amsterdam, Utrecht and London.
  • Time frame for management board approval and end-to-end implementation was 5 months to save over Euro 1 million annually.

Strategic Program Assessment in Corporate Business Lending

Top management at a global bank required transparency on its existing program. CapitaSelect performed a strategic assessment across 40+ projects for Business Lending & Support Services Solution Delivery delivering a framework and model to ensure intra-dependencies within the Wholesale bank and inter-dependencies with the Retail bank would be continuously assessed and accounted for in the future.

MiFID central program & the trade lifecycle

A global investment bank initiated a global program to implement all Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). CapitaSelect provided project Management to ensure regulatory compliance in the Netherlands, UK and Belgium. Collaboration was required with the Front Office, Operations, I.T., Compliance and Legal to ensure Equity Markets, Financial Markets and Transaction Reporting were compliant throughout the trade lifecycle through technological and procedural solutions. CapitaSelect also represented the bank in inter-bank meetings chaired by the financial regulator.
